Gebrüder Weiss doesn't only move goods and data. It also moves people who are connected to the orange network, whether that be internally or externally.
We want to inspire our customers with our services and products. To achieve this, we tap resource-saving solutions. As an independent company with a good capital base, low dependence on banks and a broad-based service portfolio, we always act sustainably, responsibly and economically.
In 2021, Gebrüder Weiss coined the term GWcares to describe its sustainability strategy. The strategy is based on three pillars: economy, people and the environment.
In developing our sustainability strategy, we have been guided by initiatives such as United Nations Global Compact, Carbon Disclosure Project and the Science Based Targets. Pursuing this strategy, we aim to continuously evolve our company, adjust our goals where appropriate, make the necessary investments and communicate transparently.
Economy
Thanks to its solid financial base, Gebrüder Weiss is independent and strategically geared towards long-term success. This clearly takes precedence over maximizing short-term profits. We pay particular attention to proactivity, while also channeling our energy into the competent creation and implementation of solutions. Alongside our innovative power, these factors are the main prerequisites for preserving and extending our competitiveness in the future.
People
At Gebrüder Weiss, social sustainability entails taking responsibility for the way we live. For us, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) means a shared responsibility for the positive evolution of the social environments we inhabit. We prioritize our employees worldwide – their safety and satisfaction come first. Over and above that, providing assistance to non-profit organizations is firmly anchored in our corporate culture. We see it as our responsibility to support selected social projects with funds and resources – at both local and central levels.
Environment
The judicious use of available resources is an essential aspect of our ecological activities. Our top priorities are to improve fuel efficiency and decrease greenhouse gas emissions. Within this, a reduction in our CO₂ emissions is paramount. For several years, we have therefore been testing alternative drive systems in our day-to-day transport operations – such as electric, hydrogen and gas fuels. In this context, the ongoing optimization of our service network and the deployment of innovative transport solutions are also crucial.
