Dear Readers,

The year 2021 confronted us with major challenges and was once again characterized by severe volatility. It required a great effort for us to overcome the capacity bottlenecks and engineer appropriate solutions for our customers. I am proud of everything our employees achieved under these difficult conditions.

Crises like the covid pandemic can also offer opportunities and accelerate change. As a company we were able to implement numerous strategic initiatives, particularly in the areas of digitalization and sustainability. With our 2021 Sustainability Report we provide insights into our GWcares strategy and the objectives and measures it incorporates. This report was drawn up in line with the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

At Gebrüder Weiss, we have a clear commitment to sustainable goals: In our vehicle fleet, we are already testing alternative drive systems fueled by gas, electricity and hydrogen, and we also want deploy solar power to make our own logistics facilities climate-neutral by 2030. With our "zero-emissions" service, we offer customers the opportunity to offset the CO₂ emissions of all their logistics requirements. The resulting amount is then funneled into certified climate protection projects.

Gebrüder Weiss seeks to provide its customers with the best supply chain solutions and to inspire them with service excellence. We tap operational and digital competence throughout our company and, to convey this approach, have coined the term "Best of Both Worlds" to describe the combination of modern digital tools on the one hand and logistics facilities, freight capacities and well-trained employees on the other.

Pursuing this strategy, we aim to continuously evolve our company, adjust our goals where appropriate, make the necessary investments and communicate transparently. We involve all management levels in decisions at Gebrüder Weiss rather than top executives alone – and that is a major success factor for achieving our sustainability goals.
